Members of the Rangers FC celebrate their goal vs Unirea Urziceni in Bucharest on November 4. European football´s ruling body UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings into Romanian club Unirea Urziceni following the violence-marred Champions League match with visitors Rangers

PARIS (AFP) - European football's ruling body UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings into Romanian club Unirea Urziceni following the violence-marred Champions League match with visitors Rangers on Wednesday.

UEFA said Friday it would be looking into the club's "lack of organisation" during the match, which ended 1-1 in Bucharest after scuffles broke out between Rangers fans and security officials.

It was reported that some visiting fans arrived late in the stadium and were shepherded to a section already decked out with banners from home fans, leading to scuffles and police intervening with tear gas.

Rangers have already been charged with improper conduct on the part of their supporters.

In a statement released Friday UEFA said Unirea also faced charges.

"UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Romanian club FC Unirea Urziceni for lack of organisation at the UEFA Champions League Group G match against Rangers FC in Bucharest on Wednesday," said the statement.

"The case relates to spectator entry procedures at the match, which finished in a 1-1 draw.

"The Control and Disciplinary Body will deal with the case on 12 November 2009, the same day as Rangers face charges relating to improper conduct of their supporters in the match."
